Regarding Tuesday’s elections for the presidency at Superleague, PAOK FC accepted the only candidacy and wish to clarify the following:
– Our battle by the football authorities is ongoing, as there is a huge divide mentality-wise between us and our rivals. This divide doesn’t concern persons, but is evident in the proposals to improve Greek football. PAOK FC remain determined to continue their battle in order to impose their –published– stances to the Greek Federation and to the Superleague.
– As things stand today in Greek football, abstaining from all elections would be just a communication trick of no consequence. The president elected today at Superleague and the representatives of all clubs will be judged by their stance regarding PAOK FC’s proposals for radical changes on all levels.
– We stand firm by our principle of favouring unanimous decisions that are good for football, as long as they are not one-dimensional or service the interests of specific clubs.
– PAOK FC have time after time denounced the ills of Greek football. Among them, the fact that we hold votes with predetermined results, given the status quo and codependent relationships. Alliances are acceptable as long as the procedures remain crystal clear.
– Should we look only to secure an office by the football authorities, we would have done so. But we refuse to engage in negotiations and deviate from our principles.
– We believe that the really substantial talk about upgrading Greek football will start on the very next session of the Superleague’s Board of Directors.
