PAOK FC participate in one of architecture’s most important international events, the “Open House”. The public can visit Toumba Stadium on 15 and 16 November, tour all areas of PAOK’s historic home ground designed by architect Minas Trebelas and learn about the architectural details of the venue and its interior spaces, recently renovated by “Nomen architects” firm.

The “Open House” concept was born in London in 1992 and has expanded to 26 cities all over the world, in a quest to explore and understand the value of architecture. Once every year, public and private buildings open their gates to the public for free and the city becomes a museum.

Thessaloniki has already participated twice in the Open House project. In 2013, 300 volunteers facilitated the event, overseeing visits by 22.000 people to 67 sites in three days. The 3rd Open House Thessaloniki has been scheduled for 14-15-16 November 2014 and includes Toumba Stadium and various new buildings in the 63 sites to be visited.

Toumba Stadium will be open to the public from 11.00 until 19.00 on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 November. Visitors of Open House Thessaloniki can also participate in a photography contest –the best picks will receive awards.

Site visits include the exterior of the venue as well as some interior spaces. Trained volunteers will serve as tour guides. They will register all visitors in priority and record their details for security reasons. Afterwards they will lead the visitors in groups to  specific areas of the stadium, while also handing them a text signed by the architects to serve as guide.
