Stefanos Athanasiadis is undoubtedly the centre of attention, but he was quick to dismiss all talk about his personal feats after the encounter against Dinamo Minsk. He talked of the team’s success instead. Here is what he had to say:

“Congratulations to the whole team. We achieved our aim to start our group stage campaign on the right foot. We wanted to win and started strongly, eventually securing a large victory. Our work in trainings is showing on the pitch. This is a new squad with a new coach and I hope we will continue on the same pace.

It’s not the first time that we perform well in Europe –we have done so plenty of times and against renowned rivals as well. Personally I am happy to have extended my contract with PAOK for the next four years and I hope to set more records along the way. I am calmer now. Today we sent our fans a message: ‘The team is here and we need your unwavering support’”.
