Central Refereeing Committee did on Friday what they failed to do for PAOK’s previous encounter: they appointed an international referee for the upcoming match against SKODA Xanthi. Charalampos Kalogeropoulos recently collected his FIFA badge and he will take charge of Sunday’s Super League game at Pigadia.
Born on 10 March 1983, the 31-year old referee will be accompanied by Emmanouil Vlassis (Lasithi) and Stylianos Tsolakis (Athens), his assistants, with Anastasios Papapetrou (Athens) acting as fourth official. Charalampos Karatzas (Evia) will be the Referee Observer.
Kalogeropoulos has officiated at just 5 encounters of PAOK since joining the Super League refereeing corps in 2011: two against Doxa Drama in 2011-12 (0-2 and 2-0 victories for the “Double-Headed Eagle”), the away 1-0 win over Levadiakos in 2012-13 and the previous two away encounters against Platanias (a 2-1 win for the Cretans last season and the 4-0 win of PAOK in the current season). Kalogeropoulos also “handled” the 2013-14 Greek Cup semi-finals’ first leg at “Georgios Karaiskakis”, Olympiacos-PAOK 2-1…
He refereed 36 Super League matches, 8 Football League encounters, 22 games of the third tier and 8 Greek Cup games, before becoming an international. Here are his results in the current season: Platanias-PAOK 0-4, Olympiacos-Veria 3-0, Olympiacos-Panathinaikos 1-0 and PAS Giannina-OFI 3-0.
