PAOK FC extend their warmest wishes for good health, happiness and success to Giorgos Tzavellas who celebrates his 27th birthday on 26 November!

Born on 26 November 1987 in Vyronas, Giorgos Tzavellas took his first footballing steps in another Athens’ district, Terpsithea who were competing in Greece’ fourth tier in 2005-06. His performances caught the interest of Kerkyra who moved quickly to acquire him.

On 10 September 2006, Tzavellas played his first match as a professional with the Corfu team. In the encounter against Larissa, he was thrown in at the deep end by then coach of Kerkyra Babis Tennes.

He went on to play 13 matches and score one goal for Kerkyra, before being transferred to Panionios in January 2008. In Nea Smirni, Tzavellas established himself as left full-back with a killer left-foot for set pieces. That asset saw him serve many assists (10) and also score two goals in 42 appearances for the «blue-reds».

He then moved abroad, as Eintracht Frankfurt paid 1,2 million euros to acquire him. In his 18 months at the German Bundesliga, he played in 25 matches, notching one goal and providing 3 assists. This solitary goal however is a historic one. He scored against FC Schalke 04 from a 73-metre distance, a few metres out of his own penalty area!

Afterwards Giorgos was sent on loan to AS Monaco for six months. The Ligue 1 club moved on for a permanent transfer in the following summer and Tzavellas got to spend one year at Monte Carlo, scoring twice in 24 matches.

In the summer of 2013 Tzavellas was released from AS Monaco and signed a four-year deal with PAOK FC.
