PAOK FC wish all the best on a personal and professional level to Charles Itandje who celebrates his 32nd birthday.
Born on 2 November 1982 in Paris to Cameroonian parents, Charles Itandje started his career at the age of 15 at FC Red Stars Paris. Four years later, in 2001, he joined RC Lens where he showed his great goalkeeping potential. He remained there for 6 seasons, playing in 171 encounters and making it to the U21 national squad of France.
In 2007, Liverpool FC picks him as their second goalkeeper, behind Pepe Reina. He featured in just three League Cup games (making his club debut in a 4-2 victory over Reading FC) and four FA Cup encounters. Following his first season in England, he rejected a move to Galatasaray SK and remained at “Anfield”, but didn’t get to play anymore for the Reds. Liverpool FC banned him for disciplinary reasons in April 2009 and on the last day of the summer transfer window he was shipped on loan to Kavala. The Cameroon goalkeeper played 19 games for the “Argonauts” keeping 9 clean sheets. He returned to Liverpool for six months, but didn’t play and was transferred to Atromitos in January 2011.
He stayed at Peristeri for two years and featured in a total of 51 matches. PAOK FC acquired him in January 2013.
