Facundo Pereyra collected three awards (Best Goal of December, MVP of December, Best Goal of 2014) on Friday, in an event held in the Press Conference Room of Toumba Stadium. The Argentinian forward attended the press afterwards and here is what he had to say:
Whether it’s the first time he gets three awards:
“Yes, it is. It’s a unique experience and I would like to thank the fans for voting me”.
Whether PAOK can claim the league title:
“Yes, we believe we can. But it would be wrong to focus on the match of next Sunday. The encounter against Panetolikos is tough enough and we need to focus on it. We managed to get this far only by taking one match at a time and by working hard. And that is what we must continue doing”.
About the club’s latest signings:
“I am glad because we welcomed players of great quality. They are trying to adjust to the team’s style. They are eager to contribute and that’s important. We need to work together and fight to regain the lead soon. It’s not my place to speak about their technical characteristics. But they are experienced, great professionals. They will provide know-how and help us withstand pressure”.
About his performances:
“The way the team welcomed me was very helpful. It was tough not speaking the language, but that problem became almost non-existent as all my teammates helped me. I gradually adjusted well and brought my game. Now it’s important to pick up our level an fulfill our goal”.
Whether he is satisfied with his performances:
“I am happy with the number of goals I have scored. There could have been more though. But nobody cares if it’s me or Klaus who tops the scoring charts. It’s important that we end the season at the top, no matter who scores the goals”.
About the elimination from the Greek Cup and from European competition:
“It’s a pity that we have been eliminated from the other competitions. The silver lining however is that we are physically and mentally rested for our upcoming encounters. But we wouldn’t have minded the extra fatigue, if that meant being alive in more competitions”.
About the Greek league:
“I could understand mentality in the Argentinian league. Things here are a bit odd… We need to remain focused however, deal with things internally and see what we can do to achieve our objectives”.
