Vangelis Lappas was born in Athens in 1975, and holds UEFA A, UEFA A Goalkeeping & AFC-GK Level 1 qualifications, and started his coaching career quite early, in 1998.
His first professional steps were taken at the academy of Amfialis and that of Aetos Korydallos. He went on to the following teams: AO Progressivitis, Paneleussiniakos, Fostiras, Panathinaikos, Al Dhafra FC, Olympiacos, OFI, Panaitolikos, Kifissia, Al Qadsiah. Specifically for Panathinaikos, he worked in their academy and in 2015 for a year with the senior men’s team, while also in regards to Olympiacos, he worked in their academy.
He has attended a large number of seminars in Greece and abroad, and has published a series of books on coaching and methodology.
He started out as a goalkeeper from the academy of Aetos Korydallos and played for several amateur teams, as well as in the Third Division in the colors of Keratsini.
Among others, he has been the coach of Odysseas Vlachodimos and Christos Mandas.
