In July 2014, Monaco spent €8,000,000 to sign him. The transfer to the Monegasques was decisive for his career. Bakayoko became one of the main cogs in the team and won the French league in 2016-17, while also contributing significantly to the team’s impressive run to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in the same season. During his time at Monaco he recorded 92 appearances, five goals and one assist.

In the summer of 2017, Chelsea forked out €40,000,000 from their coffers to sign him, making the transfer the second most expensive in the club’s history up to that point. Bakayoko made 43 appearances for the Blues, scoring three times and providing three assists, while also winning the FA Cup.

After Chelsea, Bakayoko was loaned to AC Milan for the 2018–19 season, where he played in 42 matches, scoring one goal and providing one assist. In 2019-20 he returned to Monaco, making 23 appearances, one goal and two assists, while the following season, he was loaned to Napoli, making 44 appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

In the 2021-22 season he returned to Milan again on a new loan, played in 18 matches and won the Italian championship.

Last season, Bakayoko returned to France for Lorient, making 21 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

At international level, Bakayoko has played for the French national team, making one appearance in 2017, while also playing for all of his country’s youth sides.
