Malezas made his debut in a PAOK jersey on 27.10.2005 in a Greek Cup away match against Agrotiko Asteras and afterwards he was loaned to Herodotos for one season.
Gradually, in the years that followed, he managed to establish himself in the PAOK first-team, was called up to the Greek national team and was included in the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 squads.
That summer, Malezas moved to German side Fortuna Düsseldorf, where he stayed for two years. In the summer of 2014, the Greek defender returned to the Super League with Panaitolikos where he remained for a year. He then returned to PAOK to confirm that he remained a reliable and solid defender. In the 2017-18 season, he was one of the three ‘leaders’ of the PAOK squad that lifted a second consecutive Greek Cup trophy. The next season he was also an undefeated champion and domestic double winner with PAOK and in the summer he left for Xanthi.
He played for a spell with the Akrites before officially hanging up his boots. He immediately began the process of studying for his UEFA coaching diplomas and accepted an offer from the Double-headed Eagle to succeed Pablo Garcia as coach of the Under-19 side.
Stelios is now back at his spiritual home…
