Mert Isbilir came to PAOK in 2019 to take up the position of coach of the Under-15 team, continued in the then newly formed Under-16s, and along the way for the Under-17s. He now takes over the coaching of the PAOK B players, alongside Alexandros Alexiadis, with whom he has worked together in the past.
He is a graduate of the Aegean University of Smyrna with a degree in Physical Education, holds a UEFA A diploma, a Football Fitness Specialist qualification (University of Komotini), a FIFA 11+ certification, and is also a PhD candidate in football coaching with the University of Komotini.
He has a rich work experience history. Among other things, he was a coach and fitness trainer for PAOK women’s team, and Aris, a coach at Kalloni (Super League 2013-16), an assistant coach at Panaitolikos (Super League 2016-17), a coach at Trikala (Super League 2017-18 ), and assistant coach at Kerkyra (Super League (2018-19).
He speaks Turkish, Greek and English, and is an excellent computer expert. He is married and is the father of three children.
