The Čolak family immigrated to Germany in 1992 amid the war in the former Yugoslavia, where Antonio was born on September 17, 1993.

His first football experience was at the age of four when he joined the Freiburg Academy. In 2000 he switched to went Kickers Stuttgart, where he remained for eight years before returning to Freiburg in 2008. From there he joined the youth academy at Hoffenheim in 2010 for just one year, and in 2011 moved to Karlsruhe, where he made his professional debut in the lower leagues

In 2012 he was signed by Nuremberg, initially for the reserve team, and in October 2013 he made his debut in the Bundesliga. He stayed in Nuremberg until 2015, playing in seven games, while for one season he was loaned out to Legia Gdansk, where he scored 10 goals in 31 games, also contributing two assists.

In 2015 he returned to Hoffenheim and was then loaned to Kaiserslautern, Darmstadt 98, and FC Ingolstadt. He played in the 2 Bundesliga for the first and third of those teams, while at Darmstadt he played a full season in Germany’s top flight, scoring four goals and contributing two assists in 22 games.

The moment when his career really took off came in January 2018, when he was loaned to Rijeka for one-and-a-half years. In Croatia, Čolak found his very own Ithaca and began to impress with his performances. After his loan spell, he was signed on a permanent basis in the summer of 2019, and within two-and-a-half seasons he managed to score 51 times in 90 games, also contributing 15 assists.

In fact, in the 2019-20 season, he was the top scorer of the Croatian championship with 20 goals, while with Rijeka he also won two Croatian Cups. His performances also saw him win a place in the Croatian national team squad, although he is yet to make his official debut.

Čolak has been selected by PAOK to lead the club’s attack, with the Croatian officially becoming a Double-headed Eagle for the next four years.
