The Danish side have many ups and downs in their performance lately, as their results show. Their last victory was recorded almost one month ago, over PFC Beroe Stara Zagora, a 1-0 that earned them qualification to the 3rd qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.

Brøndby IF eliminated AC Omonia with two draws. In the Danish Superliga they started with three back-to-back defeats and earned their first point last week, edging out a 3-3 draw against Randers FC in the last minute of the encounter through a spot kick by Ronnie Schwartz. The former player of EA Guingamp came off the bench in the 63rd minute and scored twice to decide the final result.

As witnessed in these seven games, the coach of PAOK’s rival Thomas Frank is building his side on 7-8 starters and, depending on the rival, he makes changes in midfield and attacking positions, where Magnus Eriksson, Johan Elmander, Ronnie Schwartz, Andrew Hjulsager, Elba Rashani and Lebogang Phiri alternate in the initial line-up.

Dario Dumić, Johan Larsson, Riza Durmisi are steady in defencee, while Martin Albrechtsen has established himself as Daniel Agger’s understudy now that the latter is sidelined with injury. Martin Ørnskov and Frederik Holst start in midfield and Teemu Pukki in attack. Lukáš Hrádecký was the undisputed starting goalkeeper but he got transferred to Eintracht Frankfurt. In order to fill the void, Brøndby IF signed Mads Toppel from Odense BK, but he hasn’t made his debut yet. In the encounter against Randers FC, also newcomer Frederik Rønnow got to defend the team’s goal.

In the four league encounters, Johan Larsson, Lebogang Phiri and Teemu Pukki featured all 270 minutes, while Martin Ørnskov and Elba Rashani started all games. On the contrary, the mighty Johan Elmander has played just for 72 minutes, as the coach of Brøndby IF prefers to field him in European matches where his valuable experience counts.
