Even they sometimes lose. U20 champions were defeated 1-0 by Panetolikos with a last-gasp goal. PAOK troops wasted several chances to break the deadlock, but were also threatened at the back by their lively opponents.
In the first half, PAOK were in command of proceedings, pressuring and even scoring, but Kakkos’ goal was disallowed for offside – a decision that was met with strong protest by the “Double-Headed Eagle’s” players. Panetolikos made their presence felt in PAOK’s box on 1-2 occasions, but the first half ended goalless.
After the interval, Panetolikos became more adventurous in attack, however PAOK enjoyed more of the possession and goalscoring opportunities. As the match was drawing to a close, the home side managed to score the winner in the 90th minute from a set piece, with PAOK’s defence caught napping.
