Out of the on-loan footballers who ply their trade abroad, only Jacobo Sanz got to play. He was once again the starting goalkeeper of CD Tenerife, as they prevailed 1-0 over CD Mirandés for the Segunda División.
Dimitris Pelkas was not among Vitόria FC’s 18-men squad who were thrashed 0-5 by SL Benfica in Setúbal. As for Deportivo de La Coruña, they prevailed 1-0 at Éibar, but Lucas Pérez didn’t get to play.
Eginiakos and Iraklis Psachna had Greek Cup engagements. Eginiakos played a 1-1 draw against Agrotikos Asteras and qualified to the competition’s group stage, with Stefanos Polyzos playing a vital part in their success before getting substituted on the hour. Dimitris Popovic was suspended for the match, following a dismissal.
Nikos Melissas was the guardian angel of Iraklis Psachna, who defeated Episkopi 2-0 and made it to the Greek Cup’s last 32 stage. The towering goalkeeper is his team’s starting No 1 so far in the season.
