PAOK U11s stroll through Lokoball qualifiers
Russia is turning into a second home for PAOK youth teams. After the U11s triumphed in 2013 and became the second non-Russian team to win the Lokoball international tournament, they defended their title successfully in 2014 and now are aiming for the three-peat!
The team of Apostolos Papavasiliou and Dimitris Taxidis suffered an Odyssey as they travelled to Moscow and from there to Krasnodar and by bus to Novorossiysk. But they didn’t seem affected and went on to win the qualifying round recording nothing but wins with the impressive tally of 29-2 goals in four encounters!
In their opening match, PAOK thrashed FC Nart 15-0, then prevailed 8-1 over FC Chornomorets and 5-0 over FC Volgar. In the final of the qualifying round, they defeated FC Kuban Krasnodar 2-0 in a penalty shoot-out, after a 1-1 stalemate in regulation time.
Giorgos Koutsias netted 11 goals and was the tournament’s top scorer, Tasos Symeonidis was voted MVP of the Lokoball qualifying stage and Alexandros Kedikoglou received an accolade as best midfielder.
PAOK U11s will participate in the final stage of the Lokoball tournament, to be held in Moscow in late July, in an effort to claim the title for a third consecutive year.
Let us remind you that PAOK U11s have already travelled to Stockholm this summer, where they won the Invitational Cup and then went to Germany and finished 3rd among 150 teams in the Led Lenser Pfingst Cup.
