A substancial, successful, full season for the U17s

PAOK U17s are once again in Super League final four, having secured their participation earlier than any other team…

19.05.2015

PAOK U17s were spectacular this season, picking up after their Rimini Cup 2014 win and their appearance in the Super League finals as U15s. The current season sees them compete for the league title in the Final Four that will probably be held at Agrinio on 28-30 May with the participation of PAOK, Olympiacos, Asteras Tripolis and PAS Giannina. The “Double-Headed Eagle” will play against the Arkadia outfit in the semis.

Alexis Tasoulis’s and Thanos Kourtoglou’s pupils are on an undefeated streak of 19 games and recorded 10 successive victories in their last matches in the regular season. Their 18-point distance from second-placed PAS Giannina is indicative of their superiority.

Their 72 points in 28 encounters (23 victories, 3 draws, 2 defeats), their 66 goals scored and just 9 conceded, tell the tale of a well-balanced and effective side.

Last time they lost was on matchday 2 of the league’s second round of fixtures, to SKODA Xanthi (1-0). They were also defeated on matchday 1 at Giannina (1-0). They conceded draws against PAS Giannina (0-0 at home), Panetolikos (0-0 away) and Veria (1-1 away).

The main protagonists of this squad are younger players, born in 1999. Before the Final Four of the Super League U17, four members of PAOK U17s travelled to Bulgaria with Greece to participate in the European Championship final stage. It’s the case of Marios Siampanis, Polykarpos Liaptsis, Asterios Dodontsakis and Konstantinos Chatzidimpas.
