PAOK flavour in Greece U17s…

Prior to the Super League U17 final four tournament, four players of PAOK join Greece U17 team that will participate in the final stage of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship, to be held in Bulgaria from 6 until 22 May.

Goalkeeper Marios Siampanis, defenders Asterios Dodontsakis and Polykarpos Liaptsis and midfielder Konstantinos Chatzidimpas travelled to Brussels on Tuesday (28.04), where Greece will play their last friendly encounter against Belgium (Thursday 30 April, at 20.00). The team leaves for Bulgaria on 4 May, in the morning.

Greece feature in Group C, along with Russia, Scotland and France. Their fixtures are as follows:

Thursday 07 May: Greece – Russia, K.O. time 16:00, Sozopol Stadium, Sozopol

Thursday 07 May: Scotland – France, K.O. time 17:00, Beroe, Stara Zagora

Sunday 10 May: Russia – France, K.O. time 16:00, Hadzhji Dimitar, Sliven

Sunday 10 May: Greece – Scotland, K.O. time 17:00, Sozopol Stadium, Sozopol

Wednesday 13 May: Russia – Scotland, K.O. time 17:00, Hadzhji Dimitar, Sliven

Wednesday 13 May: France – Greece, K.O. time 17:00, Sozopol Stadium, Sozopol

The other groups consist of the following teams:

Group A: Bulgaria, Croatia, Spain, Austria

Group B: Czech Republic, Slovenia, Belgium, Germany

Group D: Republic of Ireland, Netherlands, Italy, England

The front two teams from each group proceed to the quarter-finals. There are six spots up for grabs for the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup that will be held in Chile from 17 October to 8 November.

Greece secured their participation in the finals of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship by topping their Elite Round section: they defeated Poland 1-0 and drew with Republic of Ireland 2-2 and Belarus 0-0. Earlier they had advanced from the qualifying stage, finishing second in Group E, with a 1-0 victory over Latvia and two goalless draws against Sweden and Ukraine.
