The 3rd «Recent Advances in Sports Injuries: Trends and Prevention» conference

The 3rd annual conference entitled “Recent Advances in Sports Injuries: Trends and Prevention” organized by the 2nd Orthopaedic Clinic of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in collaboration with PAOK FC and the Greek Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery & Sports Traumatology “George Noulis”, took place with much success.

The conference took place in Thessaloniki on January 15-18, 2025 and was held under the auspices of the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery & Arthroscopy (ESSKA) and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS).

The conference was attended by prominent Greek and foreign speakers who shared their knowledge and valuable experience, contributing decisively to its success.

The conference’s topic covered the entire spectrum of injuries affecting an athlete but also expanded to areas of general health management, describing the important contribution of coaches, psychologists, fitness coaches, and physiotherapists.

Also, within the framework of the conference, two pre-conference seminars were held, aimed at young doctors. The Basic Life Support program with the corresponding certification of participants by the European Resuscitation Council, and the seminar on surgical techniques in orthopedics using virtual reality.

The opening speech of the conference was given by Paralympic champion, Stella Smaragdi, describing the difficulties on the way to the top.
