PAOK’s Under-17 side needed just one point to mathematically secure the Super League championship. And they got it, drawing 1-1 with Panaitolikos in their Matchday 15 contest which took place on Sunday morning in Souroti, and they are already celebrating another title as champions.

Orfanou’s and Krinitsa’s team clinched the Super League crown with three games to spare, just as they did last year, registering their sixth ever league title. It should be noted that this is the first time that the championship of this age category was held as a single and pan-Hellenic one with the participation of the 14 teams of Super League 1.

The next game for PAOK is an away game against Atromitos, followed by Panathinaikos, which will most likely be held at the Toumba (16.04, 13:00), when the trophy ceremony will take place. The last match is in May in Volos.

In today’s game, the visitors took the lead in the first minute, but PAOK did not panic and equalized in the 22nd minute with Souvlatzis on target after an assist that came from Giokas. A tense game followed with both sides locked in a midfield battle, but with PAOK having the lion’s share of possession, albeit without managing to threaten a second goal,. They did come very close when Matera hit the crossbar. The final 1-1 result was enough to give the championship to PAOK, as they have a nine point lead over Olympiacos.

Our warmest congratulations to our back-to-back champions!

PAOK lineup: Maligin, Kyriazidis, Chaldezos (67′ Mengidis), Avgitidis, Kalpakis, Papadopoulos, Matera, Giokas, Souvlatzis, Toursounidis (55′ Economou), Aretis (85′ Christodoulou).
