PAOK B salvage a point at the death

Although everything seemed to indicate that PAOK B would once again find themselves in trouble, they resuced a point in the 90th minute with Gitersos equalizing and giving his team valuable breathing space in the hunt for survival as PAOK B and Niki Volos ended 1-1 in their postponed game from Matchday 5 of the Super League 2 Play-outs. PAOK next host Kavala next Sunday (06.04).

Even though PAOK B had control of the ball in the first half, they could not create any significant inroads into the opposition penalty area. With the exception of three long-range shots by Kottas, Grosdis and Tsopouroglou, chances were limited. On the contrary, from a set piece – a corner kick that was conceded with an impressive save by Balomenos – it was Niki Volos who found a way to score. In the 38th minute, Prodromitis headed home to make it 1-0 to Niki.

The second half was a tense 45 minutes with the game largely being played midfield, without any noteable opportunities. Except perhaps for a significant chance for the visitors in the 68th minute. PAOK did not give up of course, and in the 90th minute they found the equalizer with Gitersos scoring, after a nice run from the right and a pass from Smyrlis.

PAOK B are now on 17 points, three clear of Diagoras Rhodes, who have played one game more.

PAOK B: Balomenos, Kastidis (71′ Goumas), Tsaousis, Lagonidis, Bataoulas, Kottas (76′ Kalogiros), Grosdis (76′ Roumiantsev), Tsopouroglou, Hatsidis (71′ Smyrlis), Gitersos, Kanis (85′ Spyrakos).

Niki Volos: Tselios, Litainas (57′ Aponza (85′ Tzioras), Vlachos, Prodromitis, Johansson, Gandeliou, Kryparakos (75′ Arias), Mataous, Bernardos (57′ Xenitidis), Sapovalov (85′ Spyridis), Salamouras.
