Defeat for PAOK Under-19s

PAOK’s Under-19 side contrived to lose their match in Kallithea, despite dominating the first half when everything indicated that they would leave with the three valuable points. But a poor second half display meant they suffered a defeat and the title race remains wide open.

PAOK lost 3-2 to Athens Kallithea, in a match that took place on Saturday morning in Athens for the 26th matchday of the Super League, and the team remains on 52 points from 21 matches, as many as Panathinaikos now has. Olympiacos are on 50 from 19 games (they play tomorrow, while the match with AEK is also pending).

Of course, there are only five games left (the next one for PAOK is against Panserraikos in Serres) and obviously everything remains open for the title race.

PAOK took the lead in the 14th minute through Panikidis, after Polykratis’s fre-kick assist, but the hosts immediately equalized in the 15th minute. Kosidis found Stylos in the 39th minute to put PAOK ahead 2-1, but unfortunately the visitors’ play was not the same in the second half. They conceded two goals, one in the 48th minute from a penalty and one in the 86th minute, which gave the home team the victory.

There were concerns about Stathis Panikidis, who suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital, from where he was fortunately immediately discharged, after receiving several stitches.

PAOK’s lineup: Beleris, Panikidis (36′ Tsiotas), Polykratis, Tsitskas, Kosidis, Almasidis, Tsifoutis (57′ Berdos), Kalaitsidis (46′ Papanikopoulos), Papageorgiou, Stylos (74′ Vryzas), Dunga (74′ Kesidis).
