The PAOK Academy educates players and parents
An extremely interesting interdisciplinary conference, under the auspices of the PAOK Academy, was held at the multifunctional center of the municipality of Kordelios Evosmos “Mikis Theodorakis”, with the main goal of continuous information, education, guidance, and above all, support for parents in their multidimensional role. It goes without saying, after all, that strengthening the psychology of parents has a direct impact on players.
Entitled «The Athlete in Developmental Football – Contemporary Issues – Contemporary Management Trends», and as always based on UEFA’s Grassroots and the principles governing the Hellenic Football Federatkion’s (EPO) Child Protection Policy regulation, the conference was addressed by Iraklis Giannaros (PAOK Academy doctor, Argyris Karavelis (PAOK B coach), Irini Rera (PAOK Academy psychologist) and Nektarios Alexandrou (CEO GDA SPORTS, primary school teacher, developmental age coach, and former player).
The topics of the conference concerned the following:
- Contemporary issues in the field of championships in developmental football
- Contemporary trends in athlete behavior management in developmental football
- Elite athletes and time, performance and efficiency management
- Overtraining syndrome and injuries
Issues were raised regarding the unknown negative consequences of overtraining, obsession with diet, the virtual reality of social media, while the reference to the scourge of snus, especially in relation to young athletes, was important, especially.
