PAOK B get a win to breathe life into season
PAOK B desperately needed a win on Saturday and they got a convincing one, defeating Kavala 3-0 on Matchday 16 of Super League 2 in Efkarpia. The Double-headed Eagle finally tasted victory after several weeks, and they will enter the play-outs with a slight advantage.
PAOK’s second string had the upper hand throughout the opening 45 minutes, controlling the game and creating chances. In the 14th minute, they had a double chance with Tsaousis, then in the 22nd minute Bataoulas‘ header hit the crossbar. In the 43rd minute, the hosts threatened again with Tsaousis. The breakthrough finally came on the stroke of half-time with a shot by Smyrlis, who converted an assist from Tsaousis.
The second half was a more balanced affair, with neither side able to register a significant chance until the last ten minutes of hte match, when PAOK B besieged the visitors’ penalty area. In the 85th minute, from Spyrakos‘effort came the corner kick executed by Tsaousis for Bataoulas who hit the woodwork for a second time in the game. However, in his first appearance for PAOK B, the youngster found the net with an impressive scissor-kick effort a minute later, in the 86th minute, following a corner kick by Tsaousis. Then three minutes later Hatsidis was tripped in the penalty area, and Gitersos scored from the spot to make the final score 3-0.
The next game for PAOK B is an away test against AEL next Saturday.
