A dose of inertia, another defeat

In their first game of 2025 – a tough challenge given the circumstances – PAOK B were defeated 1-0 by PAS Giannina, despite deserving soemthing more. Some defensive inertia on a set-piece cost them a goal and unfortunately brought an eighth consecutive defeat in the Super League 2 championship.

13.01.2025

PAS seemed to be in control of the match from the start. However, for long periods there was a certain balance given that any action was limited to the central midfield areas. There were no big chances registered until the 37th minute, when, on a corner kick from the home team, Panos was able to find space unmarked to score and make it 1-0.

The second half was a more lively affair, with PAOK B pressing high and looking for the goal that would put them back in the match. They were dynamic and also solid at the back, had at least two good chances to score (via Gitersos and Spyrakos), but they ultimately failed to find the back of the net.

The next game is the home match against Kavala on Saturday (18.01).

PAS Giannina: Athanasiou, Rinder, Bakadimas, Soria, Panos, Somosinski, Leo (84′ Lolis), Nikolias (87′ Begala), Heinrich, Sepovic, Mantzis (68′ Kido).

PAOK B: Nikolakoulis, Filon, Sinanai, Lagonidis, Kottas, Grosdis, Kalogiros (80′ Hatsidis), Tsopouroglou, Tsaousis (90+1′ Smyrlis), Koulouris (17′ Spyrakos), Gitersos.
