Despodov’s exquisite execution
Despodov’s goal from a superb direct free-kick against OFI at the Toumba Stadium was voted the Regency Casino Best Goal of October by the paokfc.gr audience.
Despodov stood over the ball in the 35th minute at a point that hardly anyone would think of trying to score from directly. However, the Bulgarian is a specialist in set pieces and he proved it once again
He swerved the ball over the defensive wall of OFI players and into the top right corner of Christogeorgos’ goal. The visiting ‘keeper reacted well but could not prevent the ball going into the bakc of the net.
In the poll for the Regency Casino Best Goal of October, it was Despodov who won the top spot with 82% of the votes, leaving in second and third place the crucial goals scored by Baba and Tissoudali respectively in the game against Viktoria Plzen at the Toumba Stadium.
