PAOK B defeat PAS Ioannina 4-0 [with pictures]
Dominant and determined from the first minute to put the defeat by Diagoras behind them, PAOK B comfortably saw off PAS Ioannina on Matchday 6 of Super League 2 on Sunday morning at the Makedonikos stadium. A 4-0 win for PAOK B saw them move onto 11 points and into second place.
Essentially in the first phase of the match, at 58 seconds, Grosdis released Hurtado and the Colombian made it 1-0 from close range, scoring his fourth goal in Super League 2. PAS tried to balance the game out, but without actually threatening the hosts.
On the contrary, PAOK B were more composed and clear about what they wanted on the field. In the 29th minute, Hurtado found Rumiantsev with a great pass, and the latter brought down the ball just as nicely in the area, before eventually winning a penalty. It was well converted by Kanis, even though Athanasiou guessed correctly, with the ball however going in to make it 2-0 in the 30th minute. PAS tried to respond but Balomenos recorded an excellent save to deny them in the 45th minute.
A similar pattern followed in the second half, with PAOK B finding their third goal in the 54th minute, when Rumiantsev stole possession high up the pitch and passed to Hurtados to score for 3-0. The visitors tried to get back into the game and were clearly more aggressive, but without managing a goal. Balomenos – in his first 90 minutes this year with PAOK B – did saw a resounding «no» on at least three occasions, however. And then in the 77th minute, the victory for PAOK took on even greater dimensions with Lagonidis rising higher than everyone to meet Tsaousis’s corner and make the final score 4-0.
The next game for PAOK B is the away game in Kavala, next Friday.
