PAOK B come from behind to claim win [with pictures]
PAOK B recorded their first win in the league with a good performance, beating Makedonikos 2-1 for the third matchday of Super League 2 on an emotionally charged day for the Double-headed Eagle family. It’s a victory that the technical team and players dedicated to the memory of the six fans who lost their lives on that fateful day in Tempi.
PAOK’s second string did not start particularly well, especially during the first 20 minutes, when Macedonikos also managed to take the lead. In the 19th minute, Heridis, who a little earlier had came on as a substitute, beat Monastirlis with a header, who initially in the sixth minute had blocked an impressive shot by Sikaroulashvili.
PAOK B then began to balance the game out. They threatened in the 27th minute with a shot by Hurtado that was blocked by Talichmanidis, and in the 39th minute with a close header by Lagonidis, which went wide. The solution was provided in the 44th minute when Goumas found Hurtado, who surged into the penalty area and fired in a shot with his left foot to make it 1-1.
The game was more balanced in the second half, without any big chances, until the 67th minute, when first with Tsaousis and then via Smyrlis, PAOK B troubled Talichmanidis. The Double-headed Eagle continued to press high up the pitch and in the 72nd minute the goal came with Kottas scoring from close range, taking advantage of a counter-attack and the rebound from Tasiouras’ initial shot. The game ended 2-1 to PAOK B, despite some late pressure applied by Macedonikos as they tried to salvage a point.
The next game is away against Kampaniakos.
