PAOK held in Volos

PAOK B came from a goal down to claim a 1-1 draw at Niki Volos for the second matchday of Super League 2.

30.09.2024

PAOK B started the game rather sluggishly, and the home team fired a warning shot in the 10th minute but Monastirlis was there to save. However, he was not able to do anything to prevent Bernardos from and making it 1-0 to Niki Volos in the 13th minute. PAOK B, as expected, increased the pressure afterwards, looking for the equalizing goal. It is true that the visitors monopolized the attacks, and they almost made it 1-1 in the 23rd minute but Kanis’ effort hit the woodwork. The same played failed to covnert a chance in the 37th minute, and then Tsaousis was denied by Tselios on the stroke of half-time.

The picture was somewhat different in the second 45 minutes and PAOK B would have been mush more effective if they had shown more patience and had more composure in attack. In the 63rd minute, however, Kanis won a penalty which he converted himself to make it 1-1 in the 65th minute. Apart from that, with the exception of a Smyrlis cross from the left that Tselios cleared for a corner, chances were hard to come by. The home side had a final chance to win it in the 86th minute, but Monastirlis produced two good saves to deny them and help his team earn a point.

The next game for PAOK B is a home contest against Makedonikos on Friday (04.10).
