Preview: Super League 2 2024-25 Season

Somewhat surprisingly, compared to previous seasons, the Super League 2 championship is kicking off on time, in what is its sixth year (fourth in terms of B teams). And this year’s championship will be played in two groups, although the original plan envisaged a single championship of 20 teams. Each group will include 10 teams, although initially with the declaration of participation of Asteras Tripoli B, there were 21. However, Ionikos withdrew, so the final format of the championship concerns 10 teams of Group A and 10 in Group B. PAOK B start their season on Sunday 22.09 at 17:00, welcoming POT Iraklis Fournoi Veneti at Makedonikos Stadium.

20.09.2024

The 20 teams, therefore, are PAOK B, AEK B, Asteras Tripoli B, PAS Ioannina and Kifisia, who were relegated from the Super League, the first four teams that were promoted from the Third Division (Kavala, Ethnikos Neo Keramidius, Panionios and Panargeiakos), AEL, Niki Volos, POT Iraklis Fournoi Veneti, Makedonikos, Kabaniakos, Panachaiki, Chania, Ilioupoli, Kalamata, Aegaleo, Diagoras Rhodes. PAOK will face POT Iraklis, AEL, Niki Volos, Makedonikos, Kabaniakos, Kavala, PAS Giannina, Ethnikos Neos Keramidi and Diagoras Rhodes in their group.

The championship will be held in two phases, that of the regular season and that of the ranking matches. In the Play Offs, the first five teams in the standings will participate in two-legged home and away ties, starting with half the points of those obtained in the regular season. Play Outs will involve the teams that will occupy positions 6 to 10. Also with half the points, also in two-legged games. There are two promotion tickets to the Super League will be won by the two winning teams of the Play Offs of each group. In the Third Division, four teams will be relegated, the bottom two of each group.

We remind you that the B teams (PAOK, AEK, Asteras Tripoli) can be relegated, but not promoted.

In case of a tie, the following criteria apply:

  • Most points in head-to-head games
  • Best goal difference between head-to-head games
  • Best overall goal difference
  • Better overall attack
  • Better overall defense
  • Draw

It is also important to note that the Super League 2 has agreed with SKAI for the exclusive broadcasting rights. The matches will also be broadcast through SKAI Hybrid and the monobala.gr website.

The PAOK B squad profile for the 2024-25 season

New season, largely a new squad and technical team, but a fixed goal and identical expectations for the training of the PAOK Academy youngsters, who are preparing for men’s football. The season that will start on 21 and 22.09 is the fourth for the second teams with PAOK and AEK being the only two that continue in the Super League 2 championship (Olympiacos and Panathinaikos were relegated, while from this year Asteras Tripoli will also participate. PAOK B has a substantially renewed squad – a logical continuation of the youngsters who are growing up and … moving up – as several of the «big ones» left to take the next step, either in Greece or abroad.

The new coaching duo will be Apostolis Papavasiliou and Dimitris Taxidis, fitness coach Mert Isbilir, goalkeeper coach Dimitris Kryonas, rehabilitation trainer Dimitris Petrakis, analyst Yiannis Vlachos, team manager Dimitris Saraideris, doctor Argyris Karavelis, physiotherapists Stavros Terzanidis and Dimitris Pagotos, minders Vassilis Papadopoulos and Iakovos Galinos. Giorgos Kostikos is the technical manager of the training process and Yiannis Savvidis is the team’s technical director.

The PAOK B squad of the 2024-25 season is made up of players born in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, but also 2007 (our «Benjamin» Anestis Mythos). Clearly there are also the «older» and experienced Kanis and Bradonijć.

Goalkeepers: Konstantinos Balomenos, Dimitris Monastirlis, Ahmad Nader, Vasilis Nikolakoulis, Vangelis Kiatos.

Defenders: Lefteris Tassiouras, Giorgos Lagonidis, Dimitris Kottas, Marios Sinanai, Nikos Deligiannis, Dimitris Pitsotis, Taxiarchis Filon, Vassilis Kitsakis, Vassilis Pasachidis, Konstantinos Kastidis.
