Under-17’s set to kick off new season
For the first time in the history of the institution, the Super League is holding a single, Pan-Hellenic championship in the Under-17 age category, which will exclusively concern Super League 1 teams. The championship will be 26 games, it will concern the 14 clubs of the top division, starting on September 14 and ending in May. The champion will emerge through the regular duration of the championship, without any play offs or Final Four competition.
The new PAOK Under-17 side start their journey from Athens, where they will face Panathinaikos on Saturday 14.09 at 11:30 for the 4th matchday.
Both Under-17 and Under-15 (unified Pan-Hellenic championship and the one that will start in October) will follow the schedule of the Under-19 team with a home reversal, however.
Regarding the change in the way it is played, it should be noted especially with regard to PAOK, that the championship is clearly becoming more competitive with much more strong games.
Under-17 profile
The Under-17 of the 2024-25 season are children born in 2008, champions with the Under-15s, third in the MFCA as a Under-16 side, first in the Istria Youth Cup in Croatia, second in the Utsikten Elite Cup in Gothenburg. Most of the players have been training at PAOK from a young age, some had already taken part in older age divisions, several are international, while this year the team is also enriched with new youngsters. PAOK Academy members are now defenders Dimitrios Baxevanos and Christos Christodoulou, midfielders Nikolaos Stamos, Konstantinos Oikonomou and Ion Roman.
The coach of this Under-17 squad is Dimitris Orfanos, who continues with some changes in the coaching staff.
