Bitter, cruel, and inglorious. These are only a few of the words that could describe the team’s Champions League exit at the hands of Malmö. But that now belongs in the past. PAOK must react, as we are only at the very beginning of the season. And that surely they will.

The first big challenge in doing so facing Razvan Lucescu’s team is the league opener against Panseraikos at the Toumba on Saturday (17.08, 20:00).

The champions must throw themselves into the battle of defending their title and thay are aiming to start their competitive obligations with three points. Preparation for the game started on Thursday (15.08) afternoon in Nea Mesimvria.

The players who were in the starting line-up against Malmö followed a recovery and rehabilitation program our on the training ptches, in the swimming pool and in the gym, while the rest of the squad warmed up and then played a friendly match at a high tempo.

Jonny Otto followed an individual training program, picked up pace, and he is counting down to his return to first team action. Taison, who left the pitch on Tuesday night with some discomfort was much better and tomorrow he will clarify if he will be ready for the league match.

Finally, Dominik Kotarski , who hurt his elbow in the game against Malmo and needed stitches, was left out of training and his condition will be re-evaluated in the last training session before the game against Panseraikos.

On Friday (16.08) PAOK will train at 18:00 in Nea Mesimvria.
