May proved to be one of the most exciting months in PAOK’s history, with the team completing their mission, winning three “finals” and lifting the Super League trophy. The Double-headed Eagle beat Olympiacos and Panathinaikos at Toumba Stadium and then went to Harilaou, defeated Aris on their own turf and celebrated the conquest of a historic championship.
Many were those players who starred in last month’s games. Five of them will compete for the MVP award.
Taison is the first contender. The Brazilian did everything he could in May. Improbable in attacking, excellent in blocking in midfield, and with the passion of a young player. All the games in May bore his signature, as he scored in all three, with his last goal even securing the championship.
We continue with Mr. Breeze. Ioannis Konstantelias was pivotal. He made the difference in all areas of the pitch, had intensity and passion in his game, but also a cool head in critical moments. He handed out two assists in the games against Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, and was the one who, with a magical piece of play, created the goal which made it 2-1 against Aris at the «Kleanthis Vikelidis».
Andrija Zivkovic is the next candidate. Passion, self-sacrifice, countless duels, and making contributions in all phases of the game. In the final three games of the season, he scored three times and dished out three assists, making him a serious contender for the MVP award.
Brandon Thomas also enters the fray. The Spanish forward gave his team energy, was full of running and pressing, and in the finale of the season he played a… magical game. War Machine, as he is nicknamed, scored goal and provided an assist at Aris, and so was the absolute major protagonist of the «final» of the championship, putting his signature on a legendary night.
The Double-headed Eagle’s goalkeeper, could not be missing from the conversation. Dominik Kotarski , our very own Mr.Fantastic, has been great all season and crucial in the last few games. His pivotal saves in the games against Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, as well as his performance in the last game against Aris, showed why he is an integral part of the team’s success. A true guardian angel between the posts.
