Under-17’s into the final stretch for the cup

Last, but not least, PAOK’s Under-17 side will contest the Super League championship. Dimitris Orfanou’s and Stelios Bika’s team face Larisa, who are making they debut in the competition, today 25.05 at 13:00 in the semi-final of the 15th Final Four of the Super League, which is held in Lamia. The other semi-final is an affair between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos. The final will be held on 28.05 (17:00) at the “Athanassios Diakos” Sports Complex in Lamia.

25.05.2024

PAOK collected 68 points, recording a total of 22 wins, two draws and two losses. They scored 87 times and conceded 22 goals. Paschalis Stylos emerged as the team’s top scorer and fourth in the league with 14 goals, followed by Yannis Tsifoutis and Nikos Theophilou with 12, Anestis Mythou with nine, Fotis Vassili, Dimitris Berdos and Antonis Tsitsilas with six. In assists, Tsifoutis leads with eight, followed by Tsitsilas with seven, Eddie Dunga with six, Berdos with five and Vassili with four assists. First in appearances (and in the overall statistics of the championship) was Yannis Tsifoutis (27), who unfortunately was injured and will be absent from the final phase. Nikos Theophilou (25), Vassilis Eleftheriadis (24), Antonis Tsitsilas (23) and Dimitris Bataoulas (22) complete the top five with the most appearances in the championship.

We remind you that PAOK secured qualification to the Final Four from November 2023, beating Olympiacos 2-1 in Agrinio with goals from Dunga and Kosidis. And then … came the calls for the national teams (13 internationals), the school championships (where our «kids» were crowned Pan-hellenic champions), and more opportunities for younger players to participate.

Of the 14 Final Fours that have been held (since 2008), seven have been won by Olympiacos, four by PAOK, and one each by Panathinaikos, Xanthi and Aris. The last time PAOK were crowned champion was in 2022, when they beat Aris 2-0 in the Volos final with goals from Gitersos and Goumas in extra time. Then it was the generation of 2005, but also some younger ones (Tzimas), the following season it was the generation of 2006, who were defeated by Olympiacos in the enthralling final (also in Volos) which ended 5-4 in extra time (2-2 in regular duration).
