- This time they meet in the semi-finals, while the previous two meetings happened at the quarter-final stage. In the 2022-23 season, as in the 2019-20 season, PAOK qualified for the next phase. In 2019-20, they prevailed in both matches, 2-0 at the Toumba and 1-0 at «Leoforos».
- In 2022-23, PAOK prevailed 2-0 at teh Toumba and in the second leg in Athens the match ended 1-1.
- 6 of their 13 matches have been in the semi-final phase of the competition, with the two teams having three qualifications each so far.
- 3 of their 6 semi-final matches went to extra time or penalties. In the first of these, PAOK qualified with a 4-0 victory in extra time in 1984-85, after overturning a 2-0 defeat in Athens.
- The last time they faced each other in the semi-finals was in 2016-17 and PAOK won the qualification in an impressive way, after overturning a defeat (2-0) in Athens with a 4-0 win (14 Pelkas, 49′ Leo Matos, 73′ Shakhov, 83′ Prijovic) to advance to the final, where they won the trophy with a 2-1 victory over AEK.
- Prior to the 2016-17 meetings, in the previous two meetings before that, the qualification was not decided within 90 minutes, but via extra time and penalties. On those occasions it was Panathinaikos who progressed at the expense of PAOK, at the ΟΑΚΑ in 2007 and at the Toumba in the 1993-94 season.
- In 1948-49 and 1950-51, the two teams met in the semi-finals in single games and won one qualification each. The two matches took place in Thessaloniki and in 1948-49 Panathinaikos qualified with a 1-0 win, while in 1950-51 PAOK won 1-0.
- Their encounters in the quarter-finals are limited, with only three. That of last season, in 2019-20 and 2006-07, where Panathinaikos had qualified in the extra time of the second match that took place at the OAKA with a 3-1 win. PAOK won 2-1 at the Toumba (31′ Konstantinidis, 42′ Mieciel – 62′ Mantzios).
- In 1993-94 in the Round of 16 of the competition, the two matches ended 0-0, and in the second leg in Thessaloniki, Panathinaikos were more effective in the penalty shootout and qualified with a score of 5-4.
