PAOK B draw with Aiolikos [with pictures]
Despite being the better side throughout the match and taking the lead twice, PAOK B eventually left Mytilini with the point from a 2-2 with Aiolikos on Matchday 18 of Super League 2.
The game started at a good tempo, which was reflected in the fact that two goals went in within the first 15 minutes. In the 11th minute, PAOK B opened the scoring after a nice build-up, with the assist from Goumas converted by Tsopouroglou’s placed effort. But, two minutes later, Aiolikos equalized through Hamidovic. In fact, the scores could have opened up even more with two good chances that the visitors missed, but also as they home team hit the crossbar.
Alexiadis‘ players, of course, found a way to take the lead again, as Goumas was fouled and won a penalty that Kanis scored in the 43rd minute to make it 2-1 to PAOK B. And somewhere in added time at the end of the first half, the visitors also gained a numerical advantage after the red card that the referee did not hesitate to show to Benitez for a bad foul on Goumas.
The game was played at a quick pace and was entertaining in the second 45 minutes as well, with the Double-headed Eagle having the first say and the initiative. Aiolikos, however, were the side that registered another goal in the 57th minute. Krimitzas fired in a shot, Talichmanidis saved, but the ball then went in off the post. The rest of the match did not produce much in the way of scoring chances, with PAOK B having to settle for a point, ahead of their next game against Makedonikos.
