Ahead of PAOK’s Matchday 16 Stoiximan Super League contest against OFI Crete at the Toumba, paokfc.gr puts you in the picture about the background to the match, as well as a look back at our previous encounters against the Cretans from Heraklion.
- The last two times that PAOK hosted OFI was again in the first month of the year, on January 15, 2022, when they won 3-0, and on January 14, 2023, with the match ending in a goalless draw.
- This 0-0 draw between the two teams ended PAOK’s winning streak, as they had won eight in a row over OFI at Toumba Stadium, and together with their Greek Cup clash in 2019-20 the totaly tally was nine.
- At the same time, up until the match between the two teams in the first round of the championship, when OFI prevailed 1-0, there were 14 consecutive home and away matches that PAOK went undefeated, i.e. from February 4, 2015, when the Cretan team had won 3-1 in Heraklion.
- This is the 47th meeting between the two teams with the Double-headed Eagle as the home team, and PAOK have 37 wins, there are 8 draws, and 1 victory for OFI.
- On September 22, 1968, OFI, then a newly-formed club, played its first match in the Greek top flight against PAOK at the Toumba. PAOK led 3-0 at half-time with two goals by Giorgos Koudas (33′, 37′) and one by Aslanidis (45′). In the second half Karakyriakos (59′) reduced the deficit to to 3-1, before Lazos (88′) scored to make the final score 4-1 to PAOK.
- El Kadouri scored PAOK’s 100th goal against OFI in the 2020-21 league match between the two teams at Toumba Stadium. From a total of 105 goals, only one has come from an own goal and it was by Kostas Pavlopoulos. Koudas, Kostikos, Salpingidis, and Akpom are the four PAOK players who have found the net 5 times in home matches against OFI, while Orfanos and Athanasiadis each have 3 goals apiece.
