- PAOK face Eintracht for the second time in its history, and the paradox is that the Frankfurt team is the only one that has managed to beat the Double-headed Eagle in the matches they have played in Germany.
- PAOK were beaten 2-0 on their first visit to Germany on 16 September 1981 by Eintracht and then faced Bayern Munich, Schalke, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke without losing any of those away games. The tally includes a win over Dortmund and three draws, two with Schalke and one with Bayern Munich, with the match going to penalties with the Germans winning 9-8.
- PAOK face Eintracht Frankfurt for the second time in the club’s history, with the first being for the Cup Winners’ Cup in the 1981-82 season. At that time, PAOK lost 2-0 in the first match that had taken place in Germany, and in the second leg PAOK levelled the tie with a 2-0 win thanks to two goals by Giorgos Kostikos in the 37th and 61st minutes. The score remained the same after extra time and it went to a penalty shootout, in which the German club prevailed 5-4 and qualified for the next stage.
- Eintracht was the first German team that PAOK faced in Europe and after that they played Bayern Munich in 1983-84 with the qualification decided on penalties again, the Germans getting the ticket with a final shootout score of 9-8.
- Stuttgart then followed in a single group match for the Europa League, where PAOK were defeated 2-1 at the Toumba.
- Then there were the matches with Schalke in the Champions League qualifiers, a 1-1 draw in Germany and a 3-2 defeat in Thessaloniki.
- Borussia Dortmund were PAOK’s next opponents in the Europa League group stage with the two teams drawing at the Toumba and PAOK winning 1-0 in Dortmund.
- The last time PAOK faced German opposition was in the 2016-17 season, when they played Schalke in the Round of 32 of the Europa League. PAOK lost 3-0 at the Toumba and the match in Germany ended in a 1-1 draw.
