PAOK B return to winning ways [with pictures]
PAOK B went out in determined mood, and with Vrakas playing an impressive and creative game, Gordeziani scoring a goal and serving up an assist, and Rumiantsev scoring for the first time in a professional league, it was a return to winning form for the Double-headed Eagle’s second string.
PAOK B prevailed 2-0 over Anagennisi Karditsa in a home clash on Matchday 7 of Super League 2. The team’s next opponents are AEL in Larissa.
The homes side were dominant in the first 45 minutes, threatening often and with at least three chances to score early (through Gordeziani, Goumas and Giaxis). The pressure paid off in the 38th minute when Vrakas won a penalty, which was well-taken by Gordeziani to make it 1-0.
The picture was different in the second half, with Anagennisi intensifying the pressure in an attempt to get an equalizer and the match looked in the balance. However, in the 66th minute, Vrakas produced a great pass to Gordeziani, and he in turn found Rumiantsev, who scored for 2-0 to kill off the game. It should be noted that the goal was scored while PAOK were playing with 10 players, as Panagiotou had already left the field injured. The Double-headed Eagle held firm comfortably until the final whistle, without the home goal being seriously threatened.
