PAOK B held to goalless draw by Aiolikos [with pictures]

In a tough and hard-fought match in which both teams failed to create clear-cut chances PAOK B had to settle for a 0-0 draw with Aiolikos, who they played host to on Matchday 5 of Super League 2. The next game for the Double-headed Eagle’s second string is against POT Iraklis next Wednesday (25.10).

21.10.2023

The match was characterized by a rather sluggish start form both side, and this pattern continued for the entire opening 45 minutes. The game certainly had some dynamism, but no real scoring chances. A header by Ricardo was an exception, and one half-chance from Aiolikos that Tasiouras blocked on the line, and another decent attempt for the visitors, with Monastirlis forced into making a good save.

PAOK did show some signs of life in the second half; they seemed to be able to move the ball around better and came close to scoring in the 62nd minute through Panidis, but his shot was blocked by a defender and went out for a corner. It’s true, however, that apart from that, there were no further notable efforts on goal from then on, as PAOK B’s play was a bit scrappy. Somewhere in added time, however, Aiolikos almost scored, but the header from the visitors went just over Monastirlis’ crossbar.

PAOK B: Monastirlis, Tasiouras (62′ Manolioudis), Kitsakis, Panagiotou, Giaxis (82′ Scznauczner), Pantekidis, Grosdis (35′ Rumiantsev), Ninua, Tsopouroglou (82′ Kanis), Ricardo, Darelas.

Aeolik: Milojevic, Kollaras, Maximenko, Lumansruben, Karanikas, Katse, Srnics (88′ Kangelidis), Triantafyllakos (63′ Mouchalis), Yoke, Zakaric (88′ Ioannou), Enomos (76′ Kordits).
