OFI vs. PAOK: Facts & Figures
Ahead of PAOK’s Stoiximan Super League contest against OFI at the “Theodoros Vardinoyiannis”, paokfc.gr puts you in the picture about the background to the match, as well as a look back at our previous encounters against the Cretans from Heraklion.
The two teams also met last September in Crete for the 5th matchday of the league (18/09/22) with the match ending in a 1-1 draw (90+12′ Diamantis – 10′ Narey), and the Double-headed Eagle maintained a tradition that they have built with the Cretan club.
In the last 14 matches home and away, and irrespective of competition, there have been 11 wins and 3 draws. In fact, two of the draws were last season, where after the 1-1 draw in Crete on Matchday 5, they also drew in the return fixture as well (0-0).
OFI’s last victory was on February 4, 2015, when they beat PAOK 3-1 in Crete. The goals for the Cretans were scored by Lambropoulos and Koutsianikoulis, while for PAOK it was Dimitris Papadopoulos who had reduced the deficit to 2-1.
Since then, there have been six matches with OFI as the home side and PAOK have four wins and two draws, and in fact in three of their four wins, PAOK have managed to score three goals, twice by a 3-1 win and once via a 3-0 win.
The first time the two teams had met in their history was in the 1968-69 season, when OFI made its debut in the Greek top flight. Then, the first match took place at the Toumba with PAOK winning 4-1 (33′, 36′ Koudas, 44′ Aslanidis, 89′ Lazos – 60′ Karakyriakos). In Heraklion, the game ended in a 1-1 draw (75′ Papoutsakis – 89′ Mitrakas).
In total, there have been 46 matches played with OFI as the home side and PAOK have recorded 10 wins, while the Cretans have won 22 times, and 14 of the matches have ended in draws.
