  • For the 15th consecutive year, PAOK begins its European obligations in July or August. The start of this «process» took place on July 30, 2009 with a 2-1 away win over Valerenga when the Double-headed Eagle played for the first time in a European game earlier than August.
  • Since then, PAOK have entered the qualifying process for European competitions early, with nine of the premieres taking place in July and five in August. This is the 10th July match and only PAOK’s fifth as the home team from a total of 15 matches.
  • From the previous four times that the club have started their qualifying campaign at home, they have won three and lost only once in the first home game, which was on July 30, 2013 (PAOK-Metalist Kharkiv 0-2).
  • At home PAOK beat Basel 2-1 on 24 July 2017, drew (2-2) with Ajax on 6 August 2019 and beat Besiktas 3-1 on 25 August 2020.
  • In their last two premiere games PAOK lost 2-0 to Levski last term and 2-1 to Bohemians on August 3, 2021.
  • This is PAOK’s second meeting with Beitar, after the two rivals met in the 2000-01 UEFA Cup first round. PAOK won the first game 3-1 (44′ Camps, 48′ Cohen, 55′ Nalitzis – 39′ Hamar) and in the second leg in Israel the match ended in a 3-3 draw (45′ Sevilla, 54′ Abuksis, 61′ Sivilia – 5′ Katsambis, 43′ Nalitzis, 90′ Konstantinidis).
  • After qualifying against Beitar, PAOK faced Udinese, where they advanced after extra-time at the Toumba and then in the 3rd round they faced PSV Eindhoven,who eliminated them.
  • Beitar Jerusalem was the first team from Israel that PAOK faced in European competitions and afterwards came Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League qualifiers in 2004-05, when the Israeli club lost the game automatically after fielding a player who was not eligible to play.
  • After that PAOK faced Bnei Yehuda, whome they beat in both legs in the second qualifying round of the Europa League in 2012-13. The club’s last opponent was Maccabi Haifa in 2013-14 in the Europa League groups, which featured a 3-2 win at Toumba Stadium and a 0-0 draw in the away leg.
