Training friendly win over Al-Taawoon

PAOK made the most of a training friendly workout against Saudi Arabian side Al-Taawoon on Saturday (15.07) in Techelen, running out 4-1 winners.

Al-Taawoon surprised the Double-headed Eagle and took the lead at the start of the match with a direct free-kick from Alvaro Midran.

PAOK quickly responded, however, asserting themselves on the game and patiently looked for the equalizer. This came in the 33rd minute, when Andrija Zivkovic found Stefanos Tzimas with a cross and he made it 1-1 with a nice side-footed finish. The teams then went into the dressing rooms at half-time with no further goals registered.

PAOK were impressive in the second half . In the 57th minute, Murg stole possession deep in the opposition half, and made it 2-1 with a wonderful shot, while 10 minutes later Vrakas sent a free-kick goalwards, and the ball deflected off a defender’s head and ended up in the net for 3-1.

In the 72nd minute, Vieirinha sent over a cross, Lyratzis headed the ball on, and Vrakas was there to make it 4-1 with another side-footed effort to round off the scoring.
