The PAOK Academy goes to Mexico
Baja California’s largest city, Tijuana, is now turning a bit “black and white”. The Double-headed Eagle continues to spread its wings – and its talent net – around the world, establishing its reach across the Atlantic. PAOK is initiating a pioneering project of running an academy in Latin America with its own unique identity.
Two iconic football figures of Mexican football are going ahead with recommendations of the PAOK Academy in Mexico. Brazilian-born but with a Mexican passport, Giovanni dos Santos, who had a stint at Barcelona and was a teammate of Ronaldinho in the 2007-08 season – also appeating for the likes of Villarreal, Tottenham and in the MLS with the LA Galaxy – is helping to bring the atmosphere of the PAOK Academy to Tijuana. «With the wish for many success stories», PAOK’s project in Mexico also received the blessings of Alvaro Fidalgo, the former Real Madrid player, and it is moving forward dynamically, spreading its competitive philosophy outside of Greece.
Consistent with the creative process of actions based on the club’s know-how and methodology, PAOK FC and the PAOK Academy will now constantly have «eyes», and their own people in Mexico, with the aim of attracting some of the talented players of the wider region.
