A great Nigerian academy under the auspices of PAOK
The expansion of PAOK Academy’s global reach, the transmission of its philosophy, the know-how that “manifests” so many talented youngsters, the “export” of the PAOK Academy methodology abroad, has always been a key goal. And now, the… wings of the Double-headed Eagle reach as far as Africa and Nigeria, specifically to the Hearts Football Club academy, which is based in the country’s capital, Abuja.
It is one of the largest football academies in the country. The first contact was made last June in Dubai, through the head of PAOK’s Global Football Affairs, Pantelis Thomarei. Next and on Greek soil this time, the owner and president of the academy, Adam Mokhtar Mohammed (an active member, among others, of the country’s football federation), got to know first-hand how the PAOK Academy works, was briefed by the general manager Vangelis Pourliotopoulos and his close associates, and attached a collaboration, which if nothing else, is expected to be interesting and profitable.
For the next three years, therefore, PAOK will shoulder one of the biggest academies in Nigeria, providing know-how and methodology through the continuous cooperation of the two sides. This collaboration will clearly contribute to the spread of the PAOK Academy’s competitive philosophy outside of Greece and Europe, and becomes an inspiration in the pioneering project of running an academy in Nigeria with the unique identity of PAOK.
