PAOK are top of the standings in the Super League after beating PAS Giannina 4-1 on Matchday 9 in a game held at noon on Sunday in Souroti.

06.11.2022

The Double-headed Eagle found themselves chasing the score from the 30th minute, when PAS managed to score from their only chance of the first half. However, the home side produced a barnstorming second half display, dispatching the visitors with four goals, a hatful of further chances, and playing some great football in the process.

Smyrlis got the ball rolling with a goal in the 53rd minute to bring the scores level at 1-1 after an assist by Goumas, and then in the 72nd minute Goumas sent over a corner which Filon headed home to put PAOK in front.

After serving up two assists, Goumas then got himself on the scoresheet in the 84th minute, taking advantage of Gitersos’ assist to make it 3-1. And then, finally with his second personal goal (and this one with his head, from Tsikos’ corner this time) Filon, scored in added time to make it 4-1 to PAOK.

Malezas’ and Chatziathanasiou’s team now have 24 points from nine matches, and they are followed by Olympiacos with 21 points from the same number of matches.

PAOK lineup:

Monastirlis, Georgiadis, Deligiannis (Sinanai 80′), Filon, Pasachidis, Schnautsner, Smyrlis, Rumiantsev (46′ Tsikos), Tzimas (85′ Adam), Kalogiros (46′ Goumas), Koulouris (28′ Gitersos).
