PAOK B kick off with a draw [pictures]
Although the better side, more fluid and threatening, PAOK B had to settle for a draw after Veria got a 95th-minute penalty equalizer as their Matchday 1 Betsson Super League 2 clash ended 1-1.
With the exception of the first quarter of the match, during which the home team looked more energetic – even twice coming close to scoring – PAOK B completely dominated the rest of the game, moving the ball around with ease and creating several … chances in front of the opponent’s goal. Chatzistravos and Bradonic were the main threats for the visitors, who had the lion’s share of possession, but did not managed to get themselves in front before half-time.
Veria surprised the visitors again at the start of the second half, almost scoring only for Ouedraogo cleared off the line. In the 54th minute, however, Chatzistravos and Bradonic exchanged passes nicely before the former fired home from the edge of the penalty area to put his team ahead.
The match then came to life more with Veria trying to get back on level terms – Bouoli even directed the ball into the net in the 63rd minute, but the referee indicated he was in an offside position. PAOK B, however, still maintained control and were particularly mobile, while not effective enough up front. Giannis Michailidis also made his return from a long spell sidelined with a knee injury in defense as a 63rd-minute substitute.
The visitors though came under pressure late on, and that paid off for Veria who won a penalty in the 95th minute which Bouoli successfully converted, meaning PAOK B had to settle for a point.
