Under-19s claim emphatic away win at Aris [with pictures]

It may not always be true that making a start with something is half the battle, but in this case it seems apt. After all, that’s how we feel after the Under-19’s emphatic 4-1 away win against Aris.

03.09.2022

The Double-headed Eagle opened their Super League championship campaign with a three-point haul, four great goals and a dynamic performance that left no room for reaction from the opposition.

Smyrlis opened the scoring in just the second minute. In the 24th minute, Tzimas won a penalty, which was converted by Tsikos, and then afterwards the home side’s goalkeeper blocked another effort from Smyrlis, who was aiming to score for the second time. Shortly after, in the 29th minute, Tzimas scored the third goal for PAOK, while in the 39th minute, Kalogiros teed up Tsikos who made it 4-0.

The Double-headed Eagle dropped their tempo relatively in the second half, although they remained threatening. That allowed Aris, however, to reduce the deficit slightly in the 58th minute, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation goal.

PAOK lineup: Angelidis, Georgiadis, Sinanai, Filon (76′ Panikidis), Pasachidis (46′ Deligiannis), Tsikos (58′ Sznaucner), Adam, Athanasiou, Tzimas (73′ Babouras), Kalogiros, Smyrlis (68′ Gitersos).
