Double trouble
By pre-season standards, things were a little more relaxed in training the day after the first friendly match. On Friday (07.01), however, the tempo and pace rose. And in turn the pulses. And the tension. And everything else. It’s not so simple to get through two demanding Razvan Lucescu training sessions in one day…
Especially in the morning, which featured both some focus on ball circulation and possession, as well as tactical and fitness conditioning through 3 vs. 3 games on a small pitch with mini goals. In the afternoon, the focus shifted mainly to the tactical approach to Saturday’s (02.07, 16:30) match against Groningen.
The squad were divided into two groups, one working on organized build-up play from the defensive zones, and the other on the break-up of opposition play function. In the morning, Giannis Kargas and Andre Ricardo followed a special individual program on the training pitches. In the afternoon, the Greek defender stayed at the gym, and the Portuguese participated as normal with the rest of the group.
In contrast, Lazaros Lambrou did a wind-down program following what has been a tough few days. Andre Vieirinha also followed an intensive reintegration program.
