Kargas is a PAOK player
PAOK FC announces the acquisition of Giannis Kargas from PAS Giannina. The Greek central defender has signed a contract with the Double-headed Eagle until June 2025.
Kargas was born on December 9, 1994 in Kilkis. He became a professional footballer in Kavala, with which he signed his first professional contract in July 2011, while in the 2012-13 season he had his first full campaign at senior level in the Football League championship, making 20 appearances and scoring one goal.
The next season he transferred to Fostiras, where he stayed for just six months and then left for Patras to join Panachaiki. He stayed at the Achaia club for one-and-a-half seasons, making 48 appearances and essentially winning his promotion to the Super League.
Platanias gave him the opportunity to showcase is skills. Kargas showed that he was more than capable of playing at the top level of Greek football, and in 18 months he made 26 appearances for the Cretan team, scoring two goals.
In the summer of 2017 he was released and Panionios made him a resident of Athens again. His passage from the Blue and Reds proved to be short-lived, as in February 2018 a proposal came from Belarus. Dynamo Brest gave him the opportunity to test his strengths abroad.
He stayed there for a year, playing in 26 games, winning the Belarus Cup and the Super Cup, before returning to his homeland in January 2019 with PAS Giannina. In the first half of his return to Greece, he played in 11 matches, and in the summer he left for Bulgaria, to join in Lefksi Sofia, with which he made 29 participations in the 2019-20 season.
He returned to Ioannina and established himself as a key member of the team. He played a total of 73 games and scored six goals for PAS. After the very good season last year, PAOK decided to put their trust in him to bolster the team’s defense. Kargas will be a PAOK player for the next three years!
